Morton's home game against Ayr United has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at Cappielow. The Scottish Championship fixture was called off just an hour before the scheduled kick-off on Saturday as Storm Boelo brought heavy rain and high winds across the country.
Ayr United, the visitors, released a statement confirming the postponement and citing the unplayable surface as the reason. No new date for the fixture has yet been announced by the SPFL. The decision leaves Dougie Imrie's side with a game in hand over some of their rivals in the league.

The call-off means Morton's fixtures schedule will need to be adjusted later in the season. The club currently sits in the middle of the standings, having taken 14 points from their opening 10 matches. Their last outing was a 2-1 victory over Queen's Park, a result that moved them into the top half of the table. The postponement denies them a chance to build on that momentum immediately.
Elsewhere in Scottish football, the wet weather caused further disruption. A League One match between Cove Rangers and East Kilbride was abandoned during the first half, while Friday's Scottish Cup tie between Penicuik Athletic and Clyde was also postponed. That cup match has already been rescheduled for Tuesday, 27 October.
The Scottish FA had prepared a list of potential alternative dates for any further postponements across the weekend's 19 scheduled Scottish Cup second-round ties. Morton's attention now turns to their next scheduled match, which is a trip to face Raith Rovers at Stark's Park next Saturday.
