Greenock Morton has officially signed midfielder MacKenzie Carse on a one-year deal. The 22-year-old impressed during pre-season trials and will wear the number 25 shirt for the upcoming Scottish Championship campaign. Morton finished 8th in the 2025 table with 38 points (8W-14D-14L) and aims to improve this season.

Who is MacKenzie Carse?

Carse began his career at Celtic, joining Queen’s Park on loan in January 2024 where he scored once in 9 appearances. After leaving Celtic, he played for Coleraine (16 apps, 1 goal, 1 assist) before moving to Stirling Albion in February 2025, making 63 appearances. His versatility and work rate caught Morton’s attention during pre-season.

Why this signing matters for Morton

The club needed midfield depth after a challenging 2025 season (36 goals scored, 52 conceded). Carse’s experience in Scottish and Northern Irish leagues adds competition. Manager John McGlynn said, 'MacKenzie’s energy and technical ability will strengthen our squad.'

What’s next for Carse?

Carse is available for selection in Morton’s league opener against Stenhousemuir tomorrow. His first home match could be against Arbroath (3rd in the table) on August 22. Fans can sponsor his number 25 shirt by contacting mark.kelly@gmfc.net.
