The fund was initiated following discussions on the club's financial challenges at the Morton Club Together (MCT) AGM on Monday, where a vote on Dutch group Estrella's investment plans was postponed and later withdrawn. General manager Mark Kelly called the response 'surprising,' emphasizing the club's enduring support. 'It shows that the Morton community is still strong. Everybody still believes in the club and loves the club,' he said. David Whitton, MCT chair, noted donations came from Australia, the U.S., and across Scotland, with East Kilbride manager Mick Kennedy and comedian Tam Cowan also pledging support. Ian Murray, manager, linked the fundraising to motivation for Saturday's match against Arbroath, stating, 'The players have given everything. A strong crowd will make a difference.'
