Heartbreak for Morton as Arbroath Snatch Victory
Morton suffered late heartbreak as Arbroath snatched victory at Cappielow, despite a stunning strike from Dean Black. The Ton were on course to earn their first point of the season after Black's wonder-strike cancelled out Jude Bonnar's opener, but Tam O'Brien scrambled in from a late corner to give the visitors the three points in the cruelest of fashions.

Summer signing Grant Savoury was named on the substitutes bench, which also featured four graduates from the club's youth academy. The home supporters got right behind their team after a difficult week for everyone associated with the club.
The opening goal arrived on 20 minutes when a slick passing move ended with Sean Mackie slipping the ball to Bonnar, who dispatched a low finish beyond Elyh Harrison. Morton responded at the other end, with McLuckie's corner almost catching out Aidan McAdams before Laiith Fairnie headed over from another cross by the winger.

It was an unstoppable strike from the 16-year-old, and he the celebrations that followed captured the emotion and significance of the moment perfectly.
Despite the pressure, Morton almost went in front when O'Halloran almost profited from a goalmouth scramble inside the Arbroath penalty box. The attacker rounded McAdams and steered the ball goalwards, but with Cappielow poised to explode, Mackie booted clear on the line.
